Frozen Coke Ingredients
If ever there was a recipe that didn’t really need an ingredient list, this is it. All you need is two cans of Coke and some ice, but here’s a list anyway.
- Coca Cola (or your favorite cola variant)
- ice
- Maraschino Cherries optional, for garnish
- flavour additives: dash of lime juice, flavored syrup such as cherry syrup, or the juice from a jar of maraschino cherries to make a cherry cola slushie.
How to Make a Coca-Cola Slushie
The steps for making frozen Coke are pretty simple, but I’m going to break it down for you. You do need to plan ahead to give your Coke time to freeze. There are ways around this, like partially freezing your Coke (right in the bottle), but blending is the key to that delicious slushy Coke texture. The best way to do this is to freeze half of your Coke completely.
We have this big Ssilicone ice cube tray that is designed for cocktails, like whiskey for a slow melt. It worked perfectly for this project because it is small and fits easily in my freezer. I simply covered it before placing it on a flat surface in my freezer.
These thicker cubes do take longer to freeze, about 4-6 hours, so if you’re short on time, smaller cube pans are a better choice.
Removal is also a breeze. However, if you don’t have a high-powered blender, I think traditional ice cube trays are a smart option for creating a smooth, consistent texture. My ninja blender I just blew these ice cubes away with no problems.
Next you want to add another can cold coke and a few extra ice cubes. How much is entirely up to you and your desired consistency. Somewhere between 6 and 10 is a good number.
Put the lid on your blender and blend until you get a slushy consistency. If you have a high powered blender, this should take no longer than 10 seconds or so. You may need to pulse it.
And that’s how you make a slush with coke at home! It’s that simple.
Serve in pretty glasses with a garnish, such as maraschino cherries or a wedge of lime.
When to Serve Frozen Coke
This frozen cola is great to serve when a refreshing drink would be appreciated. Some ideas are:
Warm summer days: On hot days, a frozen cola can be a great way to cool down. Enjoy it as a drink or even as a tasty dessert.
Celebrate: If you are having a backyard party, such as a BBQ or pool party, a slushy cola is a popular treat. It would also be a special option for a game or birthday party!
Movie nights: Enjoying a frozen Coke during movie night can enhance the experience, similar to the frozen drinks often served in theaters. Tastes great with buttered popcorn and candy!
In short, any occasion where one enjoys a cold, sweet, and fizzy treat is a good time to serve a frozen Coke.
You can serve your Coke slushy with a straw, or a spoon, or both! Personally, I like the texture when it sits and melts a little. But if you’re looking for a true slushie experience, serve it as soon as possible after blending.
If you’re wondering how I managed to fit so many photos in this post of such a simple concept and recipe, I get it. I had so much fun creating and photographing this frozen coke recipe that I just couldn’t resist! It really is a fun way to enjoy a coke.
