Whey protein powder without artificial sweeteners
Over ten years ago, my body decided it didn’t like artificial sweeteners anymore. I’ve always been prone to headaches, but I got headaches right after drinking diet sodas, so I stopped. Over time, I developed a strong aversion to the taste of alternative sweeteners.
I’ve tried to ignore the taste to make smarter choices that I immediately regret. A few years ago, I tried my sister-in-law’s homemade brownie that she made for her diabetic husband. Our family raved about the taste. It was low-sugar with an alternative sweetener. I ate three small bites to be polite and felt sick for hours afterwards. Since then, I’ve been very diligent about not using any alternative sweeteners. Not even natural options like stevia or monk fruit. My body rejects those too.
Naked Nutrition Whey Protein
I discovered Naked Nutrition last year while browsing Amazon. I was struggling to find local whey protein powder for my post-workout routine that didn’t contain an alternative sweetener. What I needed was an easy option to increase my protein intake, especially after lifting weights. I was happy to find Chocolate Naked Whey Protein Powderthat has only three ingredients:
- Whey protein concentrate
- Organic Coconut Sugar
- Organic cocoa powder
Two generous scoops contained 25 grams of protein, 160 calories, 3 grams of fat and only 5 grams of sugar. I was delighted.
I usually mix two big scoops of Chocolate Naked Whey with a frozen banana, Greek yogurt, a little milk, and some ice. The result is a delicious, frothy drink with over 30 grams of protein! It’s the perfect fuel after a tough workout.
I have been buying that product for a year now, but recently Naked food reached out to ask if I would share a recipe using their product. I rarely work with sponsors. (It’s been a few years.) But I feel so passionate about Naked Nutrition. They sent me Sstrawberry Naked Meadow which also only contains three ingredients!
I wanted to share a protein packed snack or dessert with you guys and decided frozen yogurt would be the perfect summer treat.
Ingredients for frozen yogurt with strawberries
For this frozen Greek yogurt with protein powder you only need a few simple ingredients:
- Greek yogurt (natural)
- whey protein powder (strawberry or vanilla protein powder)
- frozen banana
- frozen strawberries
- vanilla extract
The frozen fruit is sweet enough for me, so I opted for plain Greek yogurt and didn’t add any extra sugar. You can also use flavored yogurt, like strawberry or vanilla Greek yogurt, and leave out the vanilla extract.
For this recipe I used Naked Strawberry Whey Protein Powderwhich contains the following:
- Whey protein concentrate
- Organic Coconut Sugar
- Organic dried strawberries
Because there are no additives, you can decide for yourself what goes into your high-protein frozen yogurt.
While I made a frozen yogurt with strawberries, you can easily substitute your favorite fruit! Other great options are frozen mango, peaches, cherries, or pineapple. The possibilities are endless! If you have fresh fruit, make sure to wash and freeze it first to get a nice creamy texture.
How to Make High Protein Frozen Yogurt
Making this frozen Greek yogurt with protein powder is super simple! Start by taking your frozen banana, frozen strawberries, Strawberry Naked Whey protein powder, and some vanilla extract and add them all to your blender or food processor. I like to pulse until completely combined.
The result is a creamy frozen yogurt, similar to soft serve. I personally love this consistency and recommend eating it right away. If you want to make it ahead of time or prefer a firmer frozen yogurt, you can spread this mixture evenly in a loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap and freeze.
I froze mine for a few days. It crystallizes a bit and needs to sit for a while to soften. Keep in mind that it doesn’t scoop exactly like real ice cream.
Serve with extra sliced strawberries or fresh whipped cream for an extra special treat!
I have made nice cream with just frozen bananas and cherries, but this frozen yogurt with whey protein recipe is creamier with the addition of Greek yogurt! It has a delicious flavor and is the perfect snack for hot summer days. I can’t wait to switch up the fruit for different flavor combinations. I want to try strawberry and mango next!
How much protein is in frozen yogurt?
While the protein content in a typical container of frozen strawberry yogurt can vary based on brand and serving size, the average half-cup serving contains about 3 to 4 grams of protein. This high-protein frozen yogurt recipe, however, contains about 13 grams of protein per serving, depending on the exact ingredients used.
