Grinch Punch is a fun way to bring some cheer to your Christmas party or Christmas movie night! Bright green and refreshing, this green punch recipe is a playful nod to Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Add sprinkle hearts to the side of the glass for an extra special touch. It's sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike!
The Grinch is a classic story with lots of nostalgia for all ages. It's such a Merry Christmas party theme. If you need a fun non-alcoholic drink for the holidays, this grinch punch recipe is for you!
While this green punch used lime gelatin, you can use the same recipe for different party themes with different flavors of Jello. (See how I served this for one Halloween punch.) It is very versatile and results in a bright and colorful punch.
Recipe Ingredients
To make this easy Grinch punch you will need the following ingredients:
- lime jello
- pineapple juice (chilled)
- Lemon-lime soft drink (chilled)
- water (boiling water and cold water)
- heart sprinkles (optional)
- light corn syrup (optional)
I've used Sprite, but 7-Up, Starry, or another store brand is fine. I highly recommend chilling your soda and pineapple juice due to the nature of the punch. It is meant to be served immediately after preparation and since boiling water is used to melt the lime gelatin, you want the other ingredients to be cold.
The heart sprinkles are optional and used solely for decoration, but I think it really fits the Grinch party theme well. You can find many different ones heart sprinkles on Amazon. I would choose the flat sprinkles as shown here because the thicker, round hearts will probably be too heavy.
To attach the hearts you will need light corn syrup, or you can use a little melted white chocolate or icing as a substitute. It just needs to be something edible that can become sticky and harden to the glass.
Since The Grinch is a timeless story, I thought about vintage punch cups from that era How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss was published would be appropriate. I pulled out my Federal Glass Colonial Yorktown Punch Bowl and Cups. The fingerprint style fits the theme well and I will take any excuse to use this beautiful set.
How to Add Grinch Hearts to Cups
Adding hearts to the cups is a simple process. Using a toothpick, dab a little light corn syrup on the back of a heart sprinkle and attach it to the side of your plastic or glass punch cup.
Press down slightly. Place your cup on its side until it dries, otherwise your heart will slide down a bit. Wash in warm water to remove.
How to make a Grinch punch?
Making Grinch Punch is easy!! Place the lime gelatin in a large punch bowl. Pour boiling water over it.
Beat until completely dissolved. This may take a few minutes.
Add cold water and cold pineapple juice. Stir to combine.
Pour in Sprite or another lime-lime soda.
Serve immediately with your heart punch cups.
Does Jello Punch get thicker?
That depends. If it is kept at room temperature, the answer is no. This lime jello punch is meant to be enjoyed after you prepare it, without refrigerating it. However, if you store leftovers in the refrigerator, they will thicken a bit. It's still drinkable, but the texture may not be appealing to some. My kids loved it and both loved it!
I like to serve it with candy canes on the side for a fun festive garnish. This drink is so simple but very tasty and the bright green color works so well for an easy Christmas punch.

Should I put hearts on the glass?
If you're short on time or just don't like the look, you don't need to add the sprinkle heart. It's optional. (I personally love it.) Alternatively you can use a small red sticker and achieve a similar effect. Either way, this is a fun and festive Christmas punch that can be served as a green Christmas punch instead of a Grinch drink.
