Our Air Fryer Funfetti Mug Cake is a quick and easy 3-ingredient recipe that delivers a warm, fluffy cake covered in colourful sprinkles without ever turning on your oven. Perfect for a one-person treat, this indulgent dessert is ready in under 30 minutes, making it ideal for satisfying sweet tooths anytime!
What do I need to complete this recipe?
- White cake mix: Replace the cake with a cake mix of your choice, such as yellow, chocolate or strawberry.
- Milk: Half and half or heavy cream will work, but it may change the texture. You can also use water, but it will change the taste and texture a bit.
- Sprinkles: I find that Jimmies sprinkles work best in this recipe. You can use any sprinkles you like, just make sure you like the flavor of the sprinkles you choose. Also keep in mind that nonpareils bleed more than other sprinkles.
- Air fryer
- 12 ounce ovenproof mug
- Baking spray
- Measuring instruments
- Mixing tools
I recommend eating this cake fresh, but it can also be covered and stored at room temperature for a day or in the fridge for 2-3 days. It can be eaten cold or reheated for a few minutes in the microwave or airfryer.
It can be tricky to tell if your cake is done. Here are a few tips to help you.
It will spring back if you press it gently in the middle. Tap it gently and firmly with your finger and see if it springs back. If it does, it is probably done.
A toothpick or knife inserted into the center will come out clean or with only a few crumbs. If there is batter or a stain on it, it probably needs more time to cook.
A digital thermometer should read at least 200 degrees Fahrenheit at the thickest point. This is my favorite way to tell if my cake is done because it’s always easy and clear.
Airfryer Funfetti Mug Cake
- Preheat your air fryer to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 12 ounce ovenproof mug with cooking spray. Make sure the mug fits in your air fryer before preheating.
- Mix the cake batter and milk in the mug until combined.
- Fold in the sprinkles until evenly distributed. Don’t over mix or the colors will mix.
- Bake in the air fryer for 23-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a knife or toothpick comes out clean.
- Let it cool for at least 5-10 minutes and serve warm, with whipped cream if desired.
