New Yorkers may be the happiest, as the city’s 4th of July celebrations are newsworthy. The most famous is the iconic one Macy’s 4th of July fireworks celebration, which families from around the world stream on NBC. New Yorkers, however, have the opportunity to see it in person and can watch it from viewing stations in Manhattan and Hoboken.
This year, more than 60,000 shells, with more than 30 colors, will light up the night sky as only Macy’s can. Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, said: “This year’s Fireworks will feature never-before-seen effects created for Macy’s, special moments of surprise and delight, and an electrifying musical score of the summer’s biggest hits, featuring will inspire our audiences across the country.
This never-before-seen fireworks display features an alternating red and blue kaleidoscope, crossed rings, flashing comets, waterfalls, Saturn circles, crackling pistils and special ghost pyros that shoot multiple shades. They were conceived, designed and produced by Macy’s Studios in collaboration with Pyro Spectaculars by Souza.

Macy’s new summer campaign, Summer’s Greatest Hits, is the inspiration for this year’s custom 25-minute musical score, celebrating the season of summer favorites. The score, produced and arranged by Grammy and Emmy Award winner Jason Howland, will feature top talent reimagining classic songs to create the ultimate summer soundtrack, spanning a variety of genres and decades and patriotic anthems.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced 10,000 free tickets for the general public to watch the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks from Pier 45 or Pier 84 in Manhattan’s Hudson River Park. Tickets went live on WednesdayJune 26th, and there is still time to try to score a set of two. However, June 27th may be the last day to get in the online queue to try to score a set.
