Yes, you can prepare the burgers ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to cook them.
Absolutely! Grilling adds a smoky flavor that pairs well with the pizza toppings.
A sturdy bun such as a brioche bun or ciabatta is ideal for storing all the toppings.
Ingredients required
- minced meat– I used 80/20 beef.
- Bread-crumbs
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Dried oregano
- Dried basil
- Garlic powder
- Salty
- Pepper
- Hamburger buns – I used Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse Brioche Buns.
- Pizza sauce – I used a ready-made sauce, but homemade pizza sauce works fine too.
- Mozzarella cheese – You can also use slices of provolone cheese.
- Pepperoni Slices – Regular or Turkey Pepperoni are both delicious
Replacements
minced meat: replace it with ground turkey or chicken.
Mozzarella cheese: Use provolone or a mix of Italian cheeses.
Pepperoni: Substitute Canadian bacon or sautéed mushrooms for a different flavor.
Pizza burgers are best when fresh. However, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Warm up: Place burgers in a skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally until warmed through. Or microwave on high for 1-2 minutes until warmed through.
Freezing: It is recommended to freeze the cooked burgers separately from the buns and toppings. Reheat as directed and assemble just before serving.
