A Year-Round Guide for Parents: Our 2024-2025 Annual Guide is out now!

Parenting in NYC is like no other, and we get it. While it certainly has its challenges, raising a family here also comes with some great perks. We have access to some of the best attractions, events, activities, and fun you can’t find anywhere else in the world, all year round!

That is why we are also enthusiastic when our Annual Guide arrives, with 365 days of resources and info in one small, handy guide. Whether you’re a new, seasoned parent or new to New York (welcome!), this guide is for you you. We add essential tools to help you make the most of your parenting in our comprehensive – and we really mean it – stretched out – city. We cover four boroughs of NYC (Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Brooklyn) plus Long Island in this guide!

If you’re from Westchester or Rockland, be sure to check out our Westchester Annual Guide! If you’re in Staten Island, check out our Staten Island Annual Guide!

The Annual Guide covers more than just what’s happening this month; it covers the entire year. Our Family Calendar (page 27) is filled with 12 months of events your family will love. Think: Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, arrival of the Rockefeller Christmas tree, plus all of the most exciting annual parades, carnivals, and festivals New York has to offer. Flip through the calendar pages and mark the events you want to attend, and be sure to check our digital family calendar as each event approaches for more details – and more family-friendly events, too!

Our annual guide comes out in July, and we’re still in the middle of the hottest days of summer, so we’re sharing our favorite sprinkler parks and water playgrounds to stay cool when the heat waves are heat waves (quick relief, please?). But fall will be here before we know it, so we’re sharing the best places to go leaf-gazing in the city so you can plan your scenic photo shoots accordingly (page 64).

With fall comes pumpkin and apple picking season, two of our absolute favorite fall activities. We love a day at the farm, really, any time of year. Our Ultimate Guide to Pick-Your-Own Farms (page 18) has everything you need to get the family out for some fresh air and fresh-picked goodness! We’re sharing everything you need to know about picking your own fruits, vegetables, flowers, and even Christmas trees, including what’s in season and when, so you’re ready for a farm day, every day!

One thing you can do in NYC year-round is visit a plethora of museums, every day of the week. We’ve updated our roundup of the best museums in and around New York City (page 77), including the best for kids with special needs and disabilities (page 78).

Most kids love rides, but not every day is a carnival or amusement park trip. A quick ride on a carousel is usually enough if your kids get restless. Some carousels are open year-round, while others are seasonal. Find out when and where you can ride the wonderful carousels in and around New York City (page 12).

Between the pages of the Annual Guide articles you’ll find a wealth of offers and information tailored to your area from our New York Family partners; you’ll find everything from educational resources, real estate professionals and vacation ideas to extracurricular activities and more.
